Dumpling Adjacent is an online community cookbook that explores Asian flavors, traditions, and stories through food.
Our vision of Asia is expansive and spans the breadth of the continent. We aim to represent the diversity of the pan-Asian diaspora, especially under-represented perspectives.
We believe delicious food can bring us together, whether through a recipe that travels through time or a potluck that gathers us around a table.
This project has its roots in Oral Traditions, a social recipe-sharing project begun during the 2020 pandemic by Angeline Gragasin. It extended the work of Happy Family Night Market, a community organization active between 2018 and 2023, whose mission was to celebrate the Asian diaspora and deepen cross-cultural exchange through food, art, and education.
Interested in cooking with us? We’re always looking for volunteers to help us test new recipes! 👇
We invite home cooks, artists, writers, and chefs to contribute to Dumpling Adjacent.
Our focus is family recipes. We’re looking for dishes that hold memories and meanings, that play a role in your community and its rituals. And we’re happy to collaborate on turning a dish cooked by a family member into a recipe!
